Standard TILT TABLEKnife Bevel Grinding Jig or Tool Rest with FREE PDF INTRODUCTION TO KNIFEMAKING BOOK
The New Standard Tilt Table knife makers jig or tool rest was designed by Jason Northgard and Dan Berg. The original Tilt Table revolutionized the industry.
I
t was a game changer for knifemakers drastically improving the quality of bevel grinding overnight. This version of the original Tilt Table is our new entry level model. We were able to make it more affordable by slightly
redesigning the table. The end result
is a rock solid Jig that functions like the Pro and includes all hardware. The table can be easily set to any desired bevel angle. This jig is very adaptable.
It
adjusts up and down, left to right for centering on the platen,
so it can be positioned to fit a variety of 2x72 grinders. As long as the grinder accepts a second 1 1/2" square tooling arm
the table should fit. The Tilt Table allows knife makers to grind not only flat bevels but also hollow grinds and recurved bevels.
Please note on this model the end user has to grind the belt relief on back of the table. This can be easily done with an angle grinder or 2x72 belt grinder. Watch assembly video for quick easy instructions. If you want to try out the Tilt Table but are not sure if it will adapt to your 2x72 grinder we offer a full refund minus shipping. Mount the table and confirm belt notch aligns with your grinders belt prior to grinding belt relief. Once the notch is ground of table modified its yours and non returnable.
If you are looking for our top of the line model, check out our Tilt Table PRO model which features a slightly larger table, unobstructed work surface, pivots on a precision ground shoulder screw and includes all stainless hardware.

Using the tilt table is probably the closest to free grinding a knife maker can get while still having the angle support of a jig. All the knife maker has to do is to scribe center lines on the edge of the blade and then place the knife blank onto the table. While keeping the blade flat against the table move the blade up until it is in contact with the belt. Then start grinding while carefully keeping an eye on the scribed center line being careful not to grind past the line. It is that simple. A sharp coarse grit belt is recommended for rough grinding then a finer grit belt can be used to polish the bevels.
Aside from the investment in a quality 2x72 grinder, this bevel grinding tool rest can be responsible for improving the quality of a knife makers bevels greatly. The Tilt Table can be used on both flat platens and 10" large wheels for hollow grinds.

Please note the Tilt Table was designed to be attached to a standard 1 1/2 inch tooling arm
(sold separately). The table does require some assembly. Although the table is designed to be very adaptable we can not guarantee that it will fit every manufacturers belt grinder. On receipt please bolt it together and make sure the belt grove can be positioned to fit the platen or big wheel of your machine. The Tilt Table can be returned for a complete refund minus shipping cost, as long as it is unmodified and in its original condition.
